Carefree getaways may feel like a thing of the past. But that doesn’t mean they actually are. While it’s a given that your packing list will have expanded to include items like hand sanitizer and face masks, there are some aspects of the vacation experience that can remain: a welcome change of scenery, a picturesque pool in which to cool down, a breathtaking villa to retreat to, and even select, soothing spa treatments.
These are the vacation expectations we’re committed to preserving at Sanctuary Resort on Camelback Mountain. Here, you’ll discover everything you could want or need all in one place. Once you’ve arrived, you can easily stay put. And during your stay, we’ll take care of the precautions for you—frequently sanitizing surfaces, spacing out loungers by the pool, reimagining our spa services—so you can let your mind drift away from the day-to-day.
Step into your staycation at Sanctuary Resort. Let the stress melt away as you enjoy the following resort activities and experiences.
Camelback Mountain rises above the resort as Paradise Valley unfolds below it, promoting a peaceful ambiance that does the Sanctuary name justice. As peaceful as the resort can be, you can also treat yourself to classic resort experiences that reconnect you to Scottsdale.
Happy Hour at Jade Bar
Happy Hour doesn’t have to be a thing of the past. Cheers to your staycation at Jade Bar from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. seven days a week! Enjoy special $9 jade burgers and $9 classic cocktails on the bar’s cool, shaded patio. Don’t miss Two Buck Shuck oysters on Tuesdays from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Cabanas at Infinity Edge Pool
It’s always a good time to make a splash. Our infinity-edge pool is still open, though be advised that we have reduced the number of lounges to create adequate space between groups. Arrive early to snag the best spot, or reserve a poolside cabana to secure both privacy and shade. You can also opt to cool off while exercising in our 25-yard lap pool.
You don’t have to be a pro to get out on the court. Grab a couple of rackets and play a full game of tennis or pickleball, or simply practice lobbing the ball over the net. Playing tennis is a great, social distancing-approved way to break a sweat before cooling off in the pool.
If you’ve been missing Sunday brunches, elements have the answer. Dig into smoked salmon on a bagel, avocado toast, eggs benedict, and more at the Saturday and Sunday brunch from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Recommended Room Types
Not all staycations are created equal. But whether you’re looking for a resort-focused experience or the seclusion of vacation rental-style accommodations, you’ll find a room type to love at Sanctuary. These are our most popular rooms for Scottsdale’s staycations.
Immerse yourself in ultimate relaxation in a Spa Suite. Perfect for couples, these intimate retreats offer contemporary decor and panoramic views. Each suite is complete with an outdoor soaking tub, the perfect place to warm up on cool mornings, or soak up the stars at night—especially if you’d prefer some privacy from other guests.
Villa del Sol
Villa del Sol was designed to be a retreat within a retreat. This 3,500 square-foot villa is an ideal escape for friends or family who’ve been looking for a place to reconnect. With four bedrooms and exclusive facilities like a fitness room, spa treatment room, a lawn, a private pool, and four optional Terrace Casitas, this villa will unlock Sanctuary’s resort experience while giving you all the space you’ll need to vacation safely.
These rooms are available with either a king bed or two queen beds, making them a great option for friends or families. Our Mountain Casitas channel the serenity of Camelback Mountain through desert-inspired art and breathtaking views. Our casitas are at the heart of the resort, making them perfect for guests looking to feel plugged in to all the resort’s happenings.
Social Distancing-Approved Attractions
Thanks to its often-sunny skies, Scottsdale is an easy city to explore while still keeping your distance. If you’re lucky enough to staycation here, you’ll actually find more safe activities and attractions than you’d think. These activities are our pick, each of which is just a quick trip from Sanctuary.
Getting outside is always an option. If you head to the Salt River, you’ll also be able to keep cool during hot Scottsdale summers. Rent a kayak or stand up paddleboard and head out on the river, most of which is wide and slow-moving so you can take a dip as you please.
Desert Botanical Garden
The Desert Botanical Garden is one of Scottsdale’s most beloved attractions. Its breathtaking blooms and educational exhibits will get you up close and personal with desert flora and fauna. Buy a future ticket to secure admission at a time that works for you.
