Sanctuary on Camelback Mountain Is on the Ball and In the Zone With “Zennis”

The Southwest’s Number One Resort Serves Up a New Hybrid Program

Scottsdale, AZ (March 11, 2013) – For yogis, tennis-enthusiasts, or those simply looking to get moving with a fun new workout, Sanctuary on Camelback Mountain is now offeringZennis – a unique hybrid of yoga and tennis – every Friday from 9:00 – 10:30 a.m. Home to five Deco-Turf championship tennis courts, Sanctuary’s tennis program was ranked among the “Top 5 Tennis Resorts” in the country by Tennis Magazine, and provides the perfect locale for this hybrid sport, marrying its long tennis tradition with its focus on whole body health and wellness.

Sanctuary’s tennis pros, including Horst Falger who has been with Sanctuary for more than 30 years, will instruct a movement-based tennis clinic, emphasizing the principles of sport-specific yoga along with functional stretches. Participants focus on body awareness, movement and mechanics, heightening their sense of balance and allowing dormant skills to naturally emerge through the program. The Zen portion of Zennis helps promote relaxation, proper alignment and the fluidity necessary for the athletic portion of tennis.

“The combination of yoga and tennis is perfect for those looking to strengthen, lengthen and tone,” said Kara Thomas, Sanctuary’s fitness and wellness manager. “Not only will it improve cardiovascular strength and agility, but the breathing and relaxation methods used in yoga will help with rhythm and movement required on the court.”

Zennis is $50 per person. For more information, please call 480.607.2300.
