Scottsdale, Ariz. (December 14, 2010) – The Arizona Hotel and Lodging Association’s “Stars of the Industry” awards program has bestowed four top honors on Sanctuary on Camelback Mountain. Designed to recognize outstanding accomplishments in the hospitality industry, Sanctuary has once again been recognized as one of the state’s leading boutique resorts. In addition to professional honors for three employees, Sanctuary’s popular “Mixology 101” program was praised as an especially noteworthy ongoing event. Sanctuary’s awards in the “small property” category included:

Mixology 101 – Ongoing Special Events
Thanks to Sanctuary, Phoenix/Scottsdale continues to garner attention as a hub for good food and drink. Sunday drinking, to be exact. Sanctuary helps guests and locals shake off the end-of-weekend blues with its ongoing “Mixology 101” classes at jade bar. Featuring the barman prowess of Jason Asher, Sanctuary is educating locals and travelers on classic cocktails and unique libations. The program is designed as a fun and affordable activity for resort guests and area residents, creating a forum to explore the mysteries of high-concept cocktails.

Jason Asher – Food & Beverage/Sales/Catering Employee of the Year
Sanctuary’s prized mixologist for jade bar and edge, Asher’s passion, creativity and desire to advance the field of mixology has made him an extraordinary asset to the resort, its guests, and the food and beverage industry in Arizona. Thanks in large part to Asher’s efforts, CNN named jade bar one of the “World’s 30 Best Hotel Bars,” and Asher was crowned GQ and Bombay Sapphire’s “Most Inspired Bartender” in 2010.

Jill Clark – Outstanding Manager of the Year
Resort Manager at Sanctuary, Clark’s tenure began as the struggling economy was significantly impacting the hospitality industry, and her resourcefulness ensured that the resort faired well during difficult times. She also guided Sanctuary into the digital age by developing an online customer service satisfaction program, which increased responsiveness by 120% and gave Sanctuary the opportunity to better engage with its guests.

Daphne Pattison – Guest Service Employee of the Year
While spa therapists and personal trainers often enjoy the most one-on-one time with Sanctuary Spa guests, Pattison receives ongoing praise in her role as Spa Lounge Attendant. Her simple gestures to provide care, comfort and joy to her guests do not go unnoticed, and she treats each visitor like an old friend. One guest commented, “Daphne rocks! Everyone was great but Daphne takes the prize. Now that’s customer service!”
