Scottsdale, Ariz. (May 9, 2011) – As an NBA point guard, Steve Nash is a powerhouse on the court, and through the Steve Nash Foundation he uses his prowess to assist with a multitude of philanthropic initiatives worldwide. On Friday, May 20, 2011 the Phoenix Suns’ lucky number 13 will partner with Sanctuary on Camelback Mountain to host an exclusive and intimate dinner event in the resort’s private dining room, XII. Ticket sales will benefit Educare Arizona, a national network of early childhood centers dedicated to narrowing the achievement gap for low-income children.
The 13 at XII event begins at 8:30 p.m. and will include an 8-course spring-inspired dinner prepared by Sanctuary’s own Executive Chef Beau MacMillan. It is limited to but a few philanthropists plus Nash (named one of TIME Magazine’s 100 most influential people in the world), and will be an opportunity to raise money and awareness for an important regional program. Tickets include a one-night stay in a luxurious Mountain Vista Suite at Sanctuary and start at $5,000 per individual and $10,000 for two based on double occupancy. About the Steve Nash Foundation:
Formed as a family foundation in 2004, the Steve Nash Foundation is dedicated to assisting underserved children in their health, personal development, education and enjoyment of life. By increasing access to critical needs, health and education resources at home and abroad, the Foundation works to ameliorate conditions for kids, families and communities. Resources are focused on underserved populations of children in British Columbia (where Nash grew up), Arizona, and the countries of Canada, the U.S., Paraguay and Uganda.
About Educare Arizona:
Educare Arizona is a 501(c)(3) public charity working to bring private-public collaboration to bear on at-risk children and their families. By providing best practices in early learning to at-risk children ages birth to five years, Educare centers across the country are narrowing the achievement gap for low-income families. Each Educare center combines private philanthropy, like that of the Steve Nash Foundation, with available funding from existing federal (e.g., Early Head Start and Head Start) and state programs to create and deliver the highest quality early learning experience.
